Add Ram to Computer to solve Lag and Hang and increase the Speed

I have 2gb ram on my computer, I didn't format my computer for 2 years already, so my computer is very lag, very slow, and sometime when I opening 60 tabs on chrome, it will hang there for 10 minutes. I can't press and can't click anything within the 10 minutes. It was so annoying!!! So I have decided to add extra 2gb ram (total 4gb). Before buying a new ram, I need to know my motherboard can support what type of ram, DDR or DDR2 or DDR3. So the first thing I need to do is find out what is the brand model of my motherboard. I opened the box to find the manual book and cd which come along when I bought the computer last time. Picture below show the brand model of my motherboard is DG31PR :

After I know the brand model of my motherboard, I went to google search the ram type that can be supported by my motherboard by the keyword "ram for DG31PR" and the result show that only DDR2 ram can be supported by DG31PR motherboard. So I go search the best price for 2bg DDR2 ram. The best price of 2gb DDR2 ram is RM83 (Kingstand brand, available at PC DEPOT computer shop). Too bad that time was already 8p.m, PC DEPOT close shop at 6p.m, I want to buy the ram immediately, so I went to Prangin Mall computer shop to buy it which will be more expensive. I bought 2gb DDR2 ram at RM90 (Corsair brand). I wasted RM7 just because want to get it immediately, damn! Picture below shows the Corsair brand 2gb DDR2 ram that I bought :

After I bought the ram, I install the ram into my computer motherboard, my computer motherboard has 2 slots for 2 rams. Originally I have inserted 1 piece of ram onto a slot, another slot is empty. So I just need to insert the new ram onto the empty slot as show on picture below :

Picture below shows the red arrow indicate the slot that already has the old ram, the yellow arrow indicate the empty slot where I can insert my new ram :
After I have inserted the new ram onto my motherboard, I switched on my computer to test the speed. I opened Task Manager to check the ram info to see the different between before and after I inserted the new ram, picture below shows the result :
After 29 minutes I switched on my computer :

After 10 hours I switched on my computer :

Let me explain how to read / interpret / understand the ram information from the two pictures above. Up time shows how many hours did u switch on your computer. Free shows how many free ram left. Physical Memory at bottom is the key!!! The Physical Memory = 93% when the computer has 2gb ram only. The Physical Memory = 77% when the computer has 4gb ram only. 100% - 77% = 23%. So I still have extra 23% physical memory after I switch on my computer for 10 hours. My computer doesn't lag anymore, doesn't hang anymore, doesn't slow anymore is because of this 23%!!!

From the first picture (After 29 minutes I switched on computer), you might wondering why Free shows 0 value after I added extra 2gb ram? Supposedly I should have more free ram after added extra 2gb ram right? Why It is still 0 free ram? It is because I am using Windows Vista. Free will show 0 value on Windows Vista, but Free will show 1500mb value on Windows XP, it is because Windows Vista / 7 is using different memory management system if compare to Windows Me / XP.

I am using Windows Vista, so the word "free" is NOT indicate the free of RAM, it indicates the free of CACHE actually. The processor inside CPU has 2 Cache components : level 1 cache, level 2 cache.

For Windows Vista / 7 :
System Memory are divided into 3 components :
1) level 1 cache (processor),
2) level 2 cache (processor),
3) main memory (ram).

Fetching the data from level 1 cache is faster than level 2 cache, level 2 cache is faster than main memory(ram) :
Level 1 cache (Processor) is 283x faster,
Level 2 cache (Processor) is 82x faster,
Main memory (Ram) is 37x faster.

If computer doesn't finish use the cache, if there are some free or remaining cache which is not used yet, it mean the cache is WASTED!!! We must fully use all the cache then only it is WORTH!!! Windows Vista / 7 is fully utilizing all caches effectively. When you open very few files on computer, there are very few data to store in cache, the computer will simply pick the useless data and put them into cache, because if lucky, u will use those useless data in cache in future. For Windows Me / XP :
When you open a bunch of programs, your PC has to store all the relevant data somewhere. It tries to store everything in memory (ie RAM) which is nice and fast.

If you have too much stuff open (eg multiple tabs in Firefox), and/or if you don't have much RAM (eg 512Mb), then all the data won't fit in RAM. Windows makes a guess of what you're not using right now, and moves it from RAM to disk, into the Page File. Next time you access that program, Windows copies the data back out of the Page File and into RAM.

[In tech speak, thats called a 'page fault' - ie the data windows was looking for isn't in RAM, but in the page file. Getting data from disk is much slower than getting it from RAM.]

If your Page File gets big: this means you have a lot of programs open using memory, and it doesn't all fit into RAM. If the PF is large then maybe a lot of the time Windows looks for data, it's in the PF rather than RAM. You'll get a lot of "page faults", and the computer will be slow. More info at here.

Did adding ram really help to fix lagging, hanging, and slow problem?My answer is 100% absolutely YES!!! When my computer has 2gb ram, I need to wait 2 seconds everytime I open a folder. And after on my computer for 3 hours, I opened 60 tabs on Chrome, when I switch tab on Chrome also will delay 3 seconds, sometime even worse will not responding and hang there for 10 minutes!!!

After adding extra 2gb ram, my computer has 4gb ram now. I need to wait 0.01 second everytime I open a folder. And after on my computer for 3 hours, or even 10 hours, I opened 60 tabs on Chrome, when I switch tab on Chrome, it won't delay anymore, won't not responding and won't hang too. I am so happy!!!

Home Telephone or House Fixed line phone is spoil

My house fixed phone line got problem, I can't make call from home telephone for 3 years already. I did the following tests :

Test 1) When I use my house telephone to call my handphone, my handphone didn't ring, my handphone cannot receive the call at all.

Test 2) When I use my handphone to call my house telephone, my house telephone ring, but when I pick up the call, I hear nothing, no sound at all. Even I scream on my handphone, my house telephone also can't hear it.

I login to my modem router setting page and I saw the db value is very low, u can see it from the picture below :


I worry it will effect my streamyx internet speed or make my internet become unstable.

I did buy new phone and test the new phone on the line but the problem is still the same. The seller of phone tested the phone on his shop and he had confirm that the phone doesn't has any problem, so I think the telephone line/cable has problem.

I contact Telecom phone number 1300889515, then press 1 for English, then press 1 for customer service, then press 1 for home purposes. Then told the customer service : "my house telephone has problem, I can't receive call. I heard ringtone but when I pick up the call, I heard nothing. Then I give my house numbers, my name. Then the customer service asked me to confirm my handphone number because she will contact me back by my handphone number.

I called the customer service at 11a.m and the technician call me back at 3p.m saying he was going to my house now. The technician reach my house at 3.30p.m. He checked the cable outside my house, and really I have lost 1 cable. He said he will come my house tomorow with a new cable. Next day 11a.m morning he come again with a van, and he install a new cable outside my house.

Then he come in my house to test the phone and he saw I didn't use splitter, I used an extension as a splitter actually. He said extension will causing the line noisy, make phone call become very noisy because interruption by internet line. He suggest me to use a splitter. He sold me a splitter (RM20) and a red cable (RM2). The red cable is to connect splitter to house telephone line. You can see the pictures below :


Then I login into my wireless router setting page to check whether or not the problem is fix, and I saw the db already increase as the picture below :


I did test to make phone call, and it works too. So I consider the problem is fully fixed. Happy.

In case Telecom technician didn't go your house after you call them, you can complain it to MCMC. MCMC will help you fix your problem.

Did I just saw a ghost?

I was slept from 10.30p.m until 12.28a.m. It was short because I was woke up by a ghost. I never saw ghost and never experience this before. This is first time I meet a ghost.

How did I meet her?
While I was sleeping, she climbed to my bed. I can feel my bed was sink down for 3 times (1st sink - she put her hands on my bed, 2nd sink - she put her legs on my bed, 3rd sink, she move her hands to upper)....So I turned my body just want to check out what happen. Then my back pressed something small like a puppy. Then she start hugging me. My body cannot move at all when she was hugging me. Then she start talking to me near to my ear, the first sentence she spoken is related to the info that I was searching from internet this evening (private thing can't share, sorry). I can't understand the rest of words she speak, maybe it is Indonesia or Philippine language. She talk talk talk very long non-stop. Then I shout my sister's name for help, I can hear my voice is very very low although I shout very loud. My low voice sure won't reach my sister. I tried to shout my sister for many times, but all my voices are very low. Then I asked her "Apa yang anda mahu"? She answered "Jika anda bekerjasama, saya akan banyak lepas anda". I don't know what language is sentence that has a word "banyak" there, maybe Philippine? Or maybe Indonesia? Then she push something into my mouth to force me eat it, my tongue and teeth sense nothing is inside my mouth, when the thing going into my mouth, my mouth need to open, but when I bite, I can't sense anything inside my mouth, I didn't dare to swallow it. I said "na mo ah mi tou fo", then suddenly I open my eyes and woke up from sleep like usual. I am not sure this is just a dream or a real.

Lucky she didn't block my voice fully, i think she wanted me to speak something or answer her questions, that's why she didn't block my voice fully. If she block my voice fully, I can't say "na mo ah mi tou fo" anymore, and I will never wake up again?

I worry she will block my voice fully on my next sleep, because she don't want I speak "na mo ah mi tou fo" to ruin her plan again.

I checked my bed when I woke up, there is nothing press on me on my bed on my sleeping position. I was sleeping from 10.30p.m and woke up at 12.20a.m, so I guess she came to me around after 12a.m. Do you still believe it was just a dream?

Does any of you got this similar experience? Is it just a dream or it is a real? What she want actually? Is it risk to my life?

I Fixed leaking water tap / faucet

My toilet water tap is leaking water. I feel like want to call plumber service by adpost.com and 701panduan.com. But I didn't want to waste the plumber's time and car petrol to come my house just to fix this small little thing. So I decided to fix it by myself. Today is the first day to fix a water tap / faucet. Haha. I have learn how to fix it through you-tube video before I really go to do it. Below are the videos :

After I watched the video, I just went to do it in real. I took out the water tap and I realize there was a small little yellow thing which is under the water tap, the rubber on small little thing was broken already. So I drove my car to nearest shop to buy a replacement for the small little thing at RM0.50 only. Below are the pictures :




I forget to bring my wallet, ic, license, mobile phone when I was driving to the shop to buy the small little thing, lucky my car got some small changes and lucky I didn't blocked by police. LOL.

I Was Playing With A Frog

On 26/12/2010 1a.m midnight, When I came back home from MCDonald, I saw my 3 big dogs were playing a very small things like cockroach size, I though it was just a cockroach, but suddenly it jumped jumped jumped, I look closely on it and then I just realize that it is a small frog!!! The 3 big dogs keep carry the frog from here to there, there to here with their mouth, they just want to play it, won't kill it, but I worry they will play it until it is death, so I decided to take the frog into my room to stay over night, then tomorrow morning or afternoon I will drive my car fetch it and throw it into the pound at somewhere. I did record a video on it :

When I play the video on my computer, it is good quality and bright, I don't know why the video is so dark after upload it to you-tube. That's why you must save your video into .mpeg4 or .avi format, you must not save your movie into .mov or .wmv format, because you-tube don't like .mov and .wmv. To bad my Camtasia software cannot save the video into .mpeg4 and if I saved it as .avi, the file size will be too big like 1.2gb, I lazy wait for too long the uploading time. Best video format for you-tube are :
resolution of 320x240.
MPEG (MPG)
YouTube recommends MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) with MP3 audio. This option probably provides the best compromise between quality and file size. Other versions of MPEG are also acceptable.

AVI
This is the default format used by many editing programs. It provides excellent picture quality but file sizes are large. This can be a good option for short videos.

MOV, WMV & Others
These are perfectly acceptable, but may not provide the same quality or small file sizes as MPEG4.

On 14th December 2010, A friend told me that she went to Shinjuku (A Japanese restaurant) ate unagi at RM20.80. I wondering what is unagi, she told me it might be eel, so I google search what is unagi and eel, I got shock, it is like a snake!! She ate snake!!! OMG. LOL. Picture above shows My rabbit urine is black color!!! My rabbit litter tray plastic beg got a small hole, so the urine of my rabbit is leaked out to the floor from the small hole. I misunderstand my rabbit is naughty pee on the floor, but 1 thing I feel weird is why his urine is black color? So I wend to check it out and I realize the plastic beg of his litter tray has a small hole, when he pee on top the litter tray, the litter tray contain the sand to absorb his urine to remove the smell. I guess the sand is the factor that make the urine become black color. I was busy on rushing developing a website that time, so I didn't have time to clean my rabbit cage. I promised my rabbit will clean it tomorrow.

On 15th December 2010, My rabbit legs touching the black urine, it was so dirty, so I decided to take him go bath, I use gold color Sunsilk shampoo to bath him, I bathed his whole body, his whole body was wet, haha. I know it is not good for rabbit bath, I even got the sprayer to clean rabbit body, but I didn't use the sprayer because he was too dirty until I need to use shampoo to bath him. Anyway, this is 1st time I bathed my rabbit with water since he live with me for 2 years already. It was an accident actually, if the plastic beg of the litter tray didn't has a hole, he won't be so dirty and I won't need to bath him with shampoo. I did want to use hair dryer to blow him after bathed, but I cannot find a hair dryer in my house. So I just use towel to rub him, the towel can absorb 60% water on his fur only. He need to lick his fur by himself to make his fur 100% complete dry. I went to clean his cage while he is licking to dry his fur. He spend around 30 minutes to lick his fur and I spend 30 minutes to complete clean his cage. Picture below shows the clean cage with my clean rabbit after the 30 minutes :

Recently the news of a Facebook user killed himself because of sadness about his gf broken up with him. He post message count down 45 minutes on his facebook wall before he killed himself. What funny was... when my friend said "I am sad, FML", then I replied her "You should post message count down 34 minutes onto your facebook wall". HAHAHA... I have learn "Default Landing Tab" feature in Facebook page. Those people who click "Like" button on your page BEFORE you change the "Default Landing Tab", they will not see the change, they will be landed on Wall tab as default. For those who click the "Like" button on your page AFTER you changed the "Default Landing Tab", they will see the change.

I saw a shocking news that Malaysia is going to block Facebook website because a lot of keyboard warriors said bad things about Malaysia, spoil the image of Malaysia in Facebook website. Furthermore, a Facebook user kill himself so Malaysia government feel Facebook is 1 of the factor that causing him to kill himself. Moreover another stupid Facebook user said that he want to kill himself on 15th December 2010. A lot of Facebook users go to complain him by saying him just want to get famous and asked him go die quickly... I did email a company to ask what things I can obtain copy right if I create a social networking website, and I got the reply already. This few weeks Streamyx always cap my internet speed. My internet speed is capped from 11a.m morning on 16th December 2010 until next morning 9a.m morning. It is 22 hours speed cap!!! Almost full day I cannot use Internet. Damn Streamyx. On 17th December 2010, Too many of my members created same blog to promote their Infinity Downline business, so blogspot admin start consider they are spam, The admin might delete all my new members' blogs. Today is the 1st day blogspot asked me to verify my blog is not spam, blogspot admin is going to review my new member's blog, if the admin treat the blog as a spam, sure the admin will delete the blog. So my new member will not have a blog to promote her infinity downline business anymore. Hopefully blogspot admin won't treat that blog as a spam. Every member have 1 blog only, the content on "Contact Me" page is not same for all members, so it should not be a spam. I am waiting for the admin review the my new members' blogs, if the admin decide to delete the blog because consider it is spam, then I have to say sorry that I cannot create blogs for new members anymore, but I can use my own hosting to create a website for my new members, the website will exactly look like the blog. So no need to worry. WEEEE ~ :)

On 18 December 2010, I bought two new domain name "http://www.plekz.com" and "http://facehon.com". I cannot decide which 1 is better for my new social networking website. Can you give vote it? I have designed my own signature for website use purpose. I added the signature to my WiseStamp software. WiseStamp software is a software that auto add in your contact, your name, your picture to the email when you are sending an email or reply an email, picture below is the screenshot of WiseStamp auto added into the email :

My Rabbit Is Moved Out From My Room

My rabbit lived in my room for more than 2 years already. Now I am going to move it out of my room, let it stay outside my house. Why? It is because I keep running nose for 2 month already, I guess I got allergy to the rabbit, so for my health purpose, I decided to move it out, don't let it stay inside my room anymore.

I created a new rabbit cage to put at outside my house for my rabbit. The cage is made from a babe bed + a single adult bed + 5 x RM8 = RM40 big card boards + 2 x big wood boards. The following pictures show the new rabbit cage that I have created outside my house :




I used the yellow card boards to make the floor for the rabbit cage.

I can see my rabbit cage from my room window. He is always within my eyes spot area, so he is safe.


5 of my big dogs (Ultraman, Superman, Batman, Spiderman and Iron man) want to eat my rabbit. Hope the rabbit cage is strong enough to protect my rabbit. LOL.

My Diary on 21 October 2010

Today I am so blur. I slept from 5.50a.m to 12.30p.m. Then I woke up and take the letter go to post office. Then when I was driving toward the post office, suddenly I remember I forget to write something on the letter, so I drove to Padang Tembak buy A4 paper, a pen and a chocolate cake to eat because I am hungry. I ate the cake inside my car. After finish eating, I took out the pen and get ready to start writing on the A4 paper inside my car, but I saw the car park guard walk coming toward me, I guess he want to give me parking ticket, I don't want to pay for the parking fee, so I just drove my car to post office, park inside the post office free of charge, haha. Then I took out the pen and start writing the A4 paper, after writing 3rd alphabet, the pen is running out of ink!!! I took out the ink and see, omg, it is empty!!! I was very regret on why I didn't test the pen before I bought it just now. Ish. Then I drove again to nearest mini market to buy another new pen. Picture below shows the two pens that I bought for today. RM1.50 pen is empty ink!!! Ish :

I parked my car in front of the mini market and start writing the A4 paper :

Then I put the letter inside the RM3 Post Express envelop that I bough from Post Office just now. Then I drove to go home. I receive 3 sms from my customers while I was driving home. 1 of them ask me sms my bank account number to him. After I parked my car at my home, suddenly I realize I didn't post the envelope to post office yet!!! OMG!!! I just walk into my house and open my www.2aek.com website to copy my bank account number to sms the customer, then I took a photo on the Post Express envelop :

Then I drove to post office to put the Post Express envelop into the yellow box :

It was very hot, you can see my face expression that show I was suffering from the hot weather at post office there :

Then I drove to go home. Then I transfer my photos from my camera to my computer and blogging and eating my rice, it is around 2p.m already :

Now I am going to wash my hair, wash my face, bath and brush my teeth. Then I apply toner on my face, then apply whitening cream on my face then I apply Eyes Contour Gel on my eyes to cure the puffy and dark circle on my eyes. Picture below shows all my facial kits :

Post Laju VS Post Express

Today I went to post office to send 50 pieces facial masks to 1 of my customer by Post Laju, I got shock when it said the post laju postage fee is RM21.50. I though it will be just around RM10 only. Sad. Next time I will use Post Express to send the things if the things are too heavy. I regret that I didn't use 2 x RM7 of Post Express box for the 50 pieces of masks. If I use post express, I will save RM7.50 (RM21.50 - RM14 = RM7.50).

I am running e-commerce business for quite long time already, import products from oversea and sell them to Malaysia through the Internet. Pictures below shows some of my post laju receipt and pos express receipt :



I am going to share some of my knowledge to you. 1st, Post Laju count the fee based on the the weight, minimum weight fee is RM5.67 for West Malaysia and RM8.90 for East Malaysia, the fee of Post Laju will be increased a lot while the weight of the goods is heavier. For example, I post 1 to 10 pieces of facial mask just cost me RM5.67 post laju fee, but it cost me RM18 when I post 50 pieces of facial masks. Post Express count the fee based on the size of Post Express box : RM3, RM3.50, RM4.50, RM6 and RM7. RM3 is the smallest box, and RM7 is the biggest box. So, if I want to post 50 pieces of facial masks, I can but two of RM7 post express box to put them in and send.

If you want to use Post Laju to send the thing, you need to use an envelop or a box to keep the thing. If you using box to keep the thing, you need to wrap the box with brown color mahjong paper (you can buy the paper from Popular bookshop). If you don't plan to spend money to buy envelop and box to keep the things, you can go to post office at Komtar to get a free post laju plastic beg to wrap the things.

Post Laju and Post Express are same speed, post to day and receive tomorow or day after tomorow except Sunday.

In penang, all other post office close the Post Laju service at 3p.m, but for Post office at Jalan Victoria at Jeti there will close the Post Laju service at 6p.m.
